Erwin de Hart | The Hague Netherlands
Erwin de Hart , born in 1969 in a small village in the southern Netherlands, is an artist that never seeks for inspiration, but always runs into it simply by working. Says Erwin:‘ I always felt this abundance of imagination inside of me, and the urge to express that’.
He has been drawing and painting ever since he was a child, so attending the academy of fine arts later on was an obvious choice. After graduating there he taught himself the technique of oil painting, in portrait and still life. ‘They did not teach that at the academy. I felt I first had to master the craftsmanship of painting in order to really have control over my eyes and hands. Once you’ve achieved this control, you have the choice to either use or dismiss it.’
A unique style, palet of colours and energy is his trade mark. ‘Painting for me is not a choice, it’s my necessity of life. It’s all about transmitting energy, life and experiences. When you have that power, you just have to use it. For yourself and others.’
