Janet Vanderhoof | Morgan Hill, California USA

Janet Vanderhoof, a military brat by her own definition, was born in Frankfurt, Germany, in l951. She currently resides in rural Northern California surrounding herself with nature and her inspiration for her paintings. 

It wasn’t until her youngest was born with Down Syndrome that she began to reexamine her life and begin exploring a long-dormant desire to study art. She graduated from San Jose State University, CA; and continues her education in fine art through workshops and private lessons. Vanderhoof is a colorist and Regionalist; she likes to call her work “Modern Impressionism”. Her oil paintings are dramatic with the attention to composition, color and light and bold expressionistic strokes. “My first love is color; it is the emotional force behind my paintings”.

This artist, Janet Vanderhoof,  is donating 10% of her proceeds from this auction to a great cause: The Chiva Foundation.  It supports 3 homes for children ages 18 months to 18 years old.  One home is solely designated for Toddlers with ailments. The foundation provides these children the opportunity to grow up in a family environment that develops their core values, including being enveloped with love and community. The Chiva Foundation is committed to helping underprivileged children grow up in a safe and loving environment, while providing food, clothing, life skills, arts, music and sports.
