The first thing I am usually asked is, “Why? Why do you paint?” I don’t have a particularly brilliant answer. I simply paint because, like breathing, I must.
My world would seem treacherous and empty without art. Not necessarily my art - for me artmaking is not about feeding mine nor anyone else’s ego. Artmaking is about filling my life with beauty and humor - objects and ideas - that I would not encounter or could not share otherwise.

And because I have a slight inkling of how to mix colors and ply a brush, I am game to chase this beauty every day in the studio.
I am committed to trying repeatedly, never tiring, reaching again and again to match my inner eye with my outer one, working towards the day I’ll discover
a sliver of starlight laughing hysterically from inside my painting.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
