Leon Nicholas Kalas is a Curator and Artist residing in Brooklyn, N.Y. He works in various art movements and styles, however, in pursuing his art, he has focused mostly on the human figure. He has studied portraiture and human anatomy at the New York Academy of Art, the Art Student's League of New York and FIT, The Fashion Institute of Technology.
His work has been extensively exhibited in New York and Maryland galleries. He is collected throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Carribeans. One of his works is at the Clinton Presidential Library, in Little Rock, AK. His work was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in June of 2005. His works are also in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and he has participated in cultural exchanges with Morocco and Romania.
He has recently been asked to paint a series of portaits of His Majesty, the King of Morocco. Kalas' work has been published in Brooklyn Fine Arts Magazine, NYArts Magazine, Boheme Magazine in Paris, France and various newspapers such as the Brooklyn Eagle, and the Brooklyn Courier.
