Madeline Linsley Smidt | Scottsdale, Arizona USA

I evolved from realism through the various styles of art to arrive at my current interest in abstract and non-objective oil painting.  This allows me to create art based on imagination and emotions.  With each new painting, I strive to dig deeper into myself and reach beyond what I’ve done before.

After graduating from Columbia University in New York with a degree in Art History and English Literature, I went on to obtain a degree in Computer Science.  Moving from Connecticut to Arizona in 1984, I continued to work in the Information Management field as a Systems Analyst and Departmental Manager until 1993 when I was able to devote full time to my passion for art.

Basically self taught, I currently work in oil to develop my expressionistic and abstract images.
