Marie Wise | Washington State USA

I love filling my paintings with powerful and often feminine subjects. My florals, landscapes and nautical paintings are lush and deeply colored. I consider my style eclectic because it varies from painting to painting and subject to subject. The one constant is my attempt to capture one reflective moment, punctuated with symbolic elements, where viewers can find a connecting emotional bond.

I always knew I'd be an artist. While other girls played house, my eccentric French mother taught me to paint. Moving around the nation with my wanderlust family provided artistic insight. I've now settled in the Pacific Northwest where waters, mountains and sky provide everlasting inspiration. I paint in a studio overlooking the scenic Columbia River in Washington State.

I've painted everything from apples to wind. My art teachers always said I could 'copy' anything, but to be an artist, 'I must paint what is in my heart'.

I'm honored to have my paintings displayed in corporate collections, restaurants, banks and private homes. I'm excited to share it with the world via the new and emerging 140Hours gallery.
