Even as a child, I loved color relationships and surface texture. Color is the dominant expressive device in my
work. I use color in a bold, confident manner to achieve a particular mood, atmosphere, and emotional impact. I
prefer an approach to color that is as expressive and spontaneous as possible and my interest lies in interpreting
different subjects through the power of color combined with exciting composition.
I use many different media (mixed media) because the choice of medium is a vital consideration for conveying
spatial and textural qualities. Each decision I make in painting is influenced by what is in
front of me; even if it’s a white square or rectangle. The marks I make and the colors I use are always relative to
what I have just done. As the painting progresses, I continually assess each new addition, and it’s relationship to
the rest of the artwork. In this spontaneous, but also thoughtful manner, I continue until my eye feels that the
work is complete.
