Rachel Marsden | Berlin, Germany
Born in 1983 in the small Australian town of Stanthorpe this 26 year old artist has worked as a full time professional photographer since she was 21. Determined to move into the arts, in 2008 she completed a Bachelor of Photography majoring in Photographic Art Practice and in 2009 had her first solo show. Her work is highly recognizable and she has received numerous awards for her work particularly in the last two years. Her work is in private and corporate collections both in Australia and the US.
Her images are sophisticated visual poems, layered with many meanings and subtle metaphors. Themes such as impermanence, decay and our relationship with nature are explored in many of her photographic series'.
She is currently in Berlin working on a major art project that will be completed in early 2010.
