Roman Schatz | Port Macquarie Australia
I view art as a philosophy. My work embodies and reflects my life’s purpose; the quest to find meaning. As a migrant, I am fascinated with the notion
of journey, literally, metaphorically and spiritually.
Art is the thread that connects us as humans. My artistic journey allows me to share ideas and cultural interpretations with the people I meet and the places I
visit. I seek communication between cultures and express those exchanges
through my art.
Since moving to Australia from Switzerland in 1980, I have been exploring the contrasts between these two countries. My relocation from Melbourne to the
Mid-north Coast of NSW in 2001 developed an intense interest in the relationship between humans and their natural environment.
My work has been shown in Australia, Switzerland and South Korea. I currently spend half of each year conducting storytelling based art workshops in
international schools throughout the world.
