"The Right Hook" 2000 | Acrylic on Canvas | Size = 66" H X 42" W

This painting was inspired by the famous World Heavyweight Boxing Title Bout, between Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. The art historic reference was the famous George Bellows 1924 painting Dempsey versus Firpo hanging in the Whitney in NYC.

'The Right Hook' conveys a moment when these two 'titans' of Pugalism capture a moment from the bout, depicting Lewis catching Holyfield with the Right Hook, which determined the eventual outcome, of Lewis becoming undisputed World Heavyweight Champion.
